Joey Ryan seemed like a rising star in mainstream pro wrestling. Ryan was a long-time independent darling who used sleaziness and hypersexuality as part of his gimmick. At the peak of his popularity, Joey faced a slew of allegations of sexual assault that blurred the lines between his character and reality.

Ryan decided to leave his past behind and get baptized. That wasn’t enough to convince wrestling fans to let go of his sordid history of alleged horrible acts. Joey Ryan has continued to try and make a comeback, but thus far has been unsuccessful.

Tony Khan even barred AEW talent from appearing on shows that involved the controversial wrestler. An event Joey Ryan was scheduled for was revealed to have ties to his Bar Wrestling promotion. Pressure from fans ultimately led to the event to be cancelled.

Today, Joey’s only real presence is on social media. Joey Ryan is trying to rehabilitate his image and get back into the good graces of the wrestling world. That latest effort involved a shot at the popular ten-year challenge meme.

“Okay, I’ll bite. #10yearchallenge #10yearschallenge”

The before picture showed a young man just starting out in wrestling. The after photo captured a hairy person in a lewd pose. Art often imitates life. In the case of Joey Ryan, that could not be truer.
