Billy Gunn and Road Dogg were one of the hottest WWE tag teams during the attitude era. The duo was known to get crowds on their feet with their edgy promos as members of D-Generation X. The pair is set to reunite soon at a convention in April. It sounds like there will be some new merch for fans to check out.
Billy (real name Kip Sopp) has filed to trademark the “New Age Outlaws” name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The move comes as a surprise, as it does not appear that WWE has any active claims on the name. If the application is successful, Gunn would be able to sell merchandise with the name on it.
It is unknown if WWE is allowing this as a courtesy to a long-time performer or if Gunn simply noticed that an old trademark had run out. Billy Gunn is currently signed to AEW. Road Dogg is currently a free agent after being let go in the latest round of WWE NXT releases. The filing reads as follows:
“Hats; Shirts; Socks; Sweatshirts; Hooded sweatshirts
Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a a professional wrestler and sports entertainer; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, televised appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network”
The New Age Outlaws will appear at the Squared Circle Expo which takes place April 15 & 16, 2022 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West. The pair has not wrestled as a team since 2015. Billy Gunn is hoping that they can offer their fans some awesome New Age Outlaws merchandise at the show.
