Austin Gunn may be one of the few individuals on the earth who can claim to have slammed a steel chair into Shaquille O’Neal. This incident also resulted in an odd bonding moment. Gunn bonded with Shaq’s son over hitting his dad with a steel chair

Gunn Club member Austin Gunn recently spoke with TV Insider’s Scott Fishman about being a part of Relatively Famous: Ranch Rules, a new reality show that features the offspring of celebrities from different walks of life. When asked how he got along with Shaq’s son, Myles O’Neal, who is also a cast member, Gunn said they hit it up immediately away after the steel chair incident on AEW Dynamite last year.

Myles and I bonded right away. It’s a weird nice-to-meet-you: ‘Hey, I kind of hit your dad with a chair.’ It’s funny after I hit him with the chair, it obviously didn’t phase him too much because he turned around and beat me up. That was a funny little joke we shared.

When asked how he felt about following in his father Billy Gunn’s footsteps, Austin described what it’s like to work in the same company as his father. Austin said that his father found the Fountain of Youth but also is a fountain of knowledge. As much as Austin and his brother Colton want to break out and do their own thing in wrestling and try to find themselves, they also want to enjoy this moment.

As much as they want to branch out, they know it’s a patience game and everything will come in time. There are so many things happening in AEW, but the one constant for Austin is getting to wrestle with his dad. It’s a beautiful moment for him. Billy pushes him and critiques him. Even after that interview, he had to go work out with his dad. Not everyone in the wrestling world or in general gets what Austin have the chance to do: work with their dad and get to be as successful as they are right now.
