CM Punk made his All Elite Wrestling debut a few months ago at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. It certainly changed the pro wrestling world as many people took notice of the company. Tony Schiavone considered it the greatest debut in pro wrestling history.
CM Punk has become one of the mainstays of AEW television and has feuded against the likes of Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston and others. Finally, CM Punk started a long-awaited feud with MJF.
Recently, CM Punk’s booking in AEW has been getting criticism for a lot of reasons, particularly the way he is portrayed in the company in the past few months. Eric Bischoff even previously stated that CM Punk doesn’t have the star power to elevate talents anymore.
While speaking on the Keepin’ It 100 podcast, Disco Inferno talked about CM Punk’s upcoming match against Wardlow. He suggested that AEW book a stipulation where Punk needs to beat Wardlow in 5 minutes to get a match with MJF. He then stated that Wardlow should annihilate Punk in 5 minutes and then intentionally get disqualified for MJF to step in and face Punk.
“I would personally make a stipulation before this match that if CM Punk defeats Wardlow, he will get five minutes with MJF. MJF agrees to it and then Wardlow goes in there annihilates Punk with the powerbombs.
Then MJF runs down and tells him intentionally to get himself disqualified. Wardlow disqualifies himself. MJF now gets five minutes in the ring with CM Punk. I do believe that it would be good heat, but that’s what I would do to get out of that.”
Disco Inferno also recently stated that Wardlow is a bigger babyface than CM Punk. We will have to wait and see whether Wardlow will be able to defeat CM Punk or if Punk will manage to keep his undefeated streak alive in AEW.
