WWE generally carries on with their blinders on, but they are also always open for business. Mickie James will work the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble match as the Impact Wrestling Knockouts Champion, a move that shocked everyone. Ringside News exclusively reported that there are “no borders” anymore in that regard. This includes AEW.
Ringside News was told by a tenured member of the team that “AEW is in discussions about projects with [John] Laurinaitis.” Johnny Ace has spoken to Tony Khan about working with AEW on a future project. Laurinaitis and Khan have seemingly been able to get along so far.
We were told that, “Laurinaitis has spoken with Tony Khan about biographies on certain talent that is now in AEW.” No exact names were confirmed to us, but logical choices that come to mind include Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Jim Ross, Cody Rhodes and so on.
At this point about half of the AEW roster came from WWE in some form or fashion. So, a working agreement for WWE to get footage of AEW talent, even if it is for a talking head for a documentary, is a big step forward.
It was not noted that any talks are going on about bringing in AEW talent to actually wrestle in a WWE ring. That being said, Mickie James coming in for the 2022 Royal Rumble as a contracted Impact Wrestling talent proves that anything is possible nowadays.
