Roman Reigns was on a roll since his return to the company back at WWE SummerSlam in 2020. He returned as the Tribal Chief and truly reinvented himself. The change was several years in the making as fans clamored for it for so long

The Head of the Table has certainly been very dominant as the WWE Universal Champion as he has remained the champion for well over a year now. It is unlikely he will be losing the title anytime soon from the looks of it. He has competed against several top WWE Superstars throughout that time.

As reported earlier, Roman Reigns tested positive for COVID-19. Due to this, he was removed from the WWE Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view. Lesnar would instead participate in the WWE Championship match and ended up winning to become the new champion.

Despite this, the company still has huge plans for Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Lesnar vs Roman Reigns is still likely to headline WrestleMania 38 this year, despite the change in direction.

“The belief is that Reigns vs. Lesnar, the match that was to headline the WWE’s first Day 1 show at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, is still on top as the main match for the 2022 WrestleMania. The original plan was for Reigns vs. Lesnar to headline for the Universal title. One would think it would be Lesnar defending since what would have made the most sense was Paul Heyman in some form costing Reigns the title.

Instead, on Raw on 1/3 in Greenville, Heyman was back as being the advocate for Lesnar without any kind of dramatic angle. From there they could go a number of different ways, although long-term it makes more sense for Reigns to be long-term champion simply because he’s full-time and Lesnar isn’t.”

Ringside News exclusively reported that WWE’s changes to the Day 1 pay-per-view will not change their WrestleMania main event plans. In fact, we were told that Lesnar holding the WWE Title will only “enhance” their storyline.

Roman Reigns is also set to appear on this week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown. We will have to wait and see how the company will book Reigns and Lesnar’s feud.
