Bobby Lashley is one of the most legitimate athletes to have competed in the world of both MMA and pro wrestling. For a long time now Lashley has made it clear he wants to face off against Brock Lesnar in any way possible.
Even fans themselves have wanted nothing more than for the two behemoths to finally square off inside the squared circle. Lashley made it clear on numerous occasions he wants to face the Beast.
At the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view, Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship after defeating Big E, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and Bobby Lashley. Lashley was the only Superstar who had Lesnar’s number on numerous occasions.
Bobby Lashley then became the #1 contender for Brock Lesnar’s title on Monday Night RAW. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE took extra care in order to setup Bobby Lashley as a viable opponent during the WWE Championship match.
Instead, in last day negotiations and decision-making, the decision was for Lesnar to dominate the five-way, except for Lashley. He suplexed everyone all over the place. He gave everyone F-5s at one point. But he never delivered an F-5 to Lashley. The key spots were laid out for Lashley to spear Lesnar through the barricade, Lashley to spear Lesnar in the ring but Lesnar would kick out, and for Lashley to get Lesnar in the hurt lock where it would look like Lesnar couldn’t get out until Big E saved.
Then after Lesnar won the title, the closing scene would be Lashley glaring at him. On Raw two days later, the original four-way scheduled for Atlanta would take place in Greenville. Lashley would go over strong, spearing everyone and getting the pin after spearing Owens, to set up Lesnar vs. Lashley as the title match for the Royal Rumble on 1/29 in St. Louis.
We will have to wait and see how Bobby Lashley vs Brock Lesnar will turn out to be at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 29gh this year.
