All Elite Wrestling is paying tribute to their roots on the Turner family of networks on January 8, 2022. The promotion will produce a one-hour special known as Battle of the Belts. It is an homage to the classic WCW Clash of the Champions that aired on TBS many years ago. It will also feature the son of WCW legend Dusty Rhodes, who took part in many Clashes himself.
AEW has announced that on Friday’s episode of Rampage, they will reveal a change to Saturday’s Battle of the Belts card. A revision to Saturday’s two-match card will be announced owing to medical standards, according to AEW. The news was revealed in a tweet sent out at 11:54 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday.
The tweet then promoted Friday’s four-bout Rampage event, which will include HOOK vs. Aaron Solo, Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter vs. Riho and Ruby Soho, Adam Cole vs. Jake Atlas, and Daniel Garcia and 2point0 vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz in a no-DQ, no-rules, no holds barred fight.
Battle of the Belts will air Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on TNT from the Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte, North Carolina. The matches that have been featured are Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. vs. Riho for the AEW Women’s World Championship and Cody vs. Sammy Guevara in a rematch for the TNT Championship.
