Malcom Bivens managed Roderick Strong in a huge title vs title match at last night’s NXT New Year’s Evil. The NXT Cruiserweight Champion took on NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes. Bivens’ man came up short, and Carmelo unified the two titles.
Bivens’ character took great pride in managing Strong as the Cruiserweight champ. Malcom will surely miss having the belt in the possession of his Diamond Mine stable. Bivens’ wrestlers currently have no gold.
Malcom shared an emotional yet humorous video where he said goodbye to the Cruiserweight Championship on Twitter. Puff Daddy’s “I’ll Be Missing You” played in the background as clips of Roderick Strong’s reign with the now-defunct title ran. Bivens carried the title with a somber look on his face.
Roderick Strong was the NXT Cruiserweight Champion for 105 days. He defeated Kushida on the second episode of NXT 2.0 back in September to capture the title. Roddy will go down as the final champion.
The Diamond Mind will now have to recalibrate their goals for the New Year. Malcom Bivens would certainly like to have one of the members bring home a championship. It could be The Creed Brothers.
Carmelo Hayes believed the North American title to be more valuable. He proved it last night. Now that the titles are unified, anything could happen.
