Women’s wrestling, in general, has seen massive growth and developed a lot over the years, with various pro wrestling companies all over the world embracing how talented women wrestlers can be. Triple H previously stated that WWE has the best women’s division in the world, which led to a lot of backlash. The Royal Rumble is coming up and WWE might have an issue with the amount of people they have available.
However, the booking of WWE’s women’s division in the past few months left much to be desired for fans and pro wrestlers alike. The problem seems to get worse by the day as well.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer brought up how WWE’s lack of depth in their women’s division will cause an issue at the Royal Rumble. They don’t have 30 women on the main roster, so we’re likely going to see NXT Superstars and legends. That being said, WWE has their reasons for not cutting down the number of participants.
“You really don’t need two 1-hour pay-per-view matches on the same show, but the whole thing that it’s got to be equal and it’s go to be 30 I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be 30. The other thing is that when it’s a bunch of people that the fans don’t know it kinda makes the match dead. 20 would be 30 on that match, for sure, but for traditional reasons I’m relatively certain that they’re gonna go 30.”
With the Royal Rumble pay-per-view set to take place this month, it remains to be seen whether the company will manage to pull off a satisfying Women’s Royal Rumble match or not.
