WWE Day 1 is this Saturday, but the company is going through a bit of a crisis. Several members of the roster were pulled from the road, and some have tested positive for COVID-19.
Ringside News has learned that, at this time, no WWE Day 1 matches have been altered internally. That being said, it is still a possibility.
We were told that WWE will wait until the day of the show to make any changes to their Day 1 pay-per-view if they have to. That being said, if any changes come around for Day 1 then they are likely to happen on the day of the show.
WWE has also fallen into the trend of promoting matches that they know won’t happen. This occurred with AJ Styles vs Omos on RAW this week and Brian Kendrick vs Harland on NXT 2.0 the next night. Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair’s SummerSlam match is another big example, one which resulted in the company changing plans for Becky Lynch as well.
The COVID-19 pandemic is not going away and this new variant is spreading. WWE is aware of that, and this is the reason why they pulled so many top Superstars off the road and television as a precautionary measure.
As of this writing, Seth Rollins and Adam Pearce are the only two individuals who have publicly disclosed positive COVID-19 tests. Our thoughts are with everyone in this situation, whether they are positive for the virus or not.
