The COVID-19 pandemic took over the entire world last year and affected several industries all over the world. This included the pro wrestling business, which was severely affected by the pandemic. Several pro wrestlers tested positive for the virus and it resulted in numerous shows being postponed as well. The company just changed their policy about testing talent, because now they aren’t doing that. The only way a talent will be tested is if they are showing symptoms, but testing stopped for staff already.
As reported earlier, several WWE Superstars recently tested positive for COVID-19. To add to that, the condition worsened as more wrestlers and members of staff tested positive for the virus.
In spite of that the company will be carrying on with the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company has stopped testing employees who are not wrestlers. This includes all members of staff.
WWE had been testing all wrestlers, but only those designated as talent were being tested. Other employees who toured with talent had quietly stopped being tested.
The company has also stopped testing their talents weekly. We will have to wait and see how the WWE Day 1 pay-per-view will turn out to be in the end.
