AEW took the world by storm back in 2019 as it was the first pro wrestling company in a very long time that made waves in the pro wrestling world as a form of competition for WWE. It was certainly a risky endeavor as well because there was always the chance it was going to end up being a huge failure. It seems Tony Khan has a lot of factors to consider when it comes to signing talents.

AEW has all the momentum in the world right now thanks to the debuts of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole to their roster. This has ensured that the roster is one of the most stacked in all of pro wrestling.

There is no doubt that AEW has a very deep and diverse roster of talented in-ring performers from all over the world, incorporating various styles of pro wrestling. Khan even compared it to WCW’s 1997 roster.

While speaking to Yahoo Sports, AEW President Tony Khan talked about the variety of factors he takes into consideration when it comes to signing a free agent to the company.

I have to look at a variety of factors. There are some talent, when they become available, regardless of how they become available, I want to make a place for them because I know they can make a difference here. There are other times that I may have a specific idea for someone.

Nobody else can do it because there are a variety of factors that I have to consider. There’s the budget, where new people are going to fit on TV, will they be used on TV right away or in a developmental situation, or is it someone I am keeping for insurance in case they break out or if we have injuries or circumstances that necessitate new faces in the mix. This year, more so than any other year prior, we saw difference-making names become available.”

Khan also recently revealed how important it was to grow AEW’s roster this year. The AEW President also admitted he needs to be more discerning with his future AEW signings. It remains to be seen what plans Tony Khan has in store for fans in the coming months.
