Many fans would agree that WWE’s product has fallen a lot when it comes to quality. The current product has a lot of flaws including 50/50 booking, feuds that don’t go anywhere, teams splitting up for no reason and storylines not making sense. The disinterest of the fans is reflected in the dwindling ratings of Monday Night RAW over the past few years.

This is only the start as fans are also tired of how NXT talents being called up to the main roster are treated. The likes of former WWE Superstar Karrion Kross and Keith Lee are one of many blemishes on WWE’s record.

The company is certainly not known for its long-term storytelling as fans are simply tired of being treated like idiots. Despite that, even former WWE Superstars are tired of how WWE writes their storylines.

While speaking on 1010XL in Jacksonville, AEW President Tony Khan was asked what makes AEW different from WWE. Khan then proceeded to rip WWE in a long list of things AEW does better, especially noting AEW does not have too many writers as part of the Creative team.

“I don’t have 27 Hollywood writers sitting around, writing sketch comedy for the show. We do great wrestling matches. The wrestling that a lot of people in Jacksonville and the south east grew up on. That’s the wrestling I grew up on and I love it. For me, it starts at the top and because I am a big wrestling fan, I try to put on matches that the fans want to see. I try not to screw over the fans. Idont advertise matches that aren’t going to happen, we don’t false advertise stuff.

We try to give matches that the fans want to see. We try not to do the same matches every week, rematch, rematch, rematch, I know some of you are familiar with that where wrestling companies go around with the same guys and girls wrestling every night. It’s not like that here. We have fresh matches and fresh stories. We try to make it about the wrestling and not the sideshow. I think that’s what a lot of fans have gravitated towards. I grew up a big wrestling fan and it’s giving me a sense of how to present it to the fans where you know every week you get great matches, kick ass stuff, good surprises, and it’s one of the reasons fans have gravitated towards AEW.”

Eric Bischoff also previously stated that fans connect to AEW, unlike WWE. There is no doubt AEW will keep on striving to better their product so that fans remain happy for as long as possible. With Tony Khan at the helm, the company is going through a lot of changes over the past few months. We will have to see just how the company will change in the coming years.
