EC3 has reinvented himself several times through the years. He played the muscle for Dixie Carter during her run at the top of TNA. He spent some time in NXT. Now he is trying to form an independent stable of monsters so powerful that no promoter can tell them what to do with “Control Your Narrative.

The man who chooses his own narrative now was known as Derrick Bateman during his stint with WWE’s developmental brand. EC3 was involved in a story with Maxine. The two had a kayfabe romantic interest in each other.

EC3 and Maxine’s mothers both got involved somewhere along the way. Matt Striker named the character Agnes Bateman. Carter told ROH Strong recently that Triple H got pretty hot with the writer who came up with it, as it wasn’t cleared to involve parents in the show.

“I knew there was… heat because you can only punish the writer. Everyone has to play, even though playing is no fun there. I knew there was some sort of heat, but he didn’t actually tell me how much and I didn’t know to that extent.

Paul, I will tell you that on the internet show that no one cared about, we tried our best to entertain the fans and put smiles on people’s faces and we did it by any means necessary. What you created, NXT with your own baby, that was very successful. Congratulations. How is everything going up there? Okay, good.”

EC3 introduced The Titan (formerly Braun Strowman in WWE) to his CYN faction at Ring of Honor’s Final Battle PPV recently. He has continued to recruit disaffected wrestlers who want to have their own say in how they’re used. The NXT incident here was one of many that caused the wrestling star to decide to control his narrative.
