Kevin Owens remains one of the mainstays of WWE television ever since his debut in NXT back in 2014. He also made a name for himself in the independent circuit before making his way to WWE.
After a lot of speculation of whether Kevin Owens would stay with WWE or not, it was revealed that Owens signed another contract with WWE, which was said to be a multi-year deal.
While speaking on the Jim Cornette Experience podcast, pro wrestling legend Jim Cornette talked about WWE offering a lucrative contract to Kevin Owens. He added that Owens’ rumored $3 million contract proves there is a war between WWE and AEW.
“I’m not trying to knock him here, I’ve always said that Kevin Steen [Owens] could work and he could talk, it’s how he has been booked, which is not his fault. Kevin Steen is getting $2-3 million a year and that indicates 2 things. 1) There is a shortage of talent to begin with. 2) The WWE is embarrassed by just having difference-makers handed over on a silver platter to the other side. 3) We are back in a promotional war.
“If Kevin Steen is worth $2-3 million a year then what are they giving Roman Reigns? 15-20? They are doing what they started doing 2 years ago, which was upsetting their salary structure, but now they are really upsetting their salary structure because they have to offer more money than they did before to get people to stay.”
Kevin Owens is booked for a four-way WWE Championship match at the Day 1 PPV on January 1, 2022. He will take on WWE Champion Big E, Bobby Lashley while Seth Rollins’ status is uncertain. We will have to wait and see who will win the match.
