CM Punk made his All Elite Wrestling debut a few months ago at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. It certainly changed the pro wrestling world as many people took notice of the company for being able to bring back CM Punk, whom many thought would never step inside a pro wrestling ring again. Tony Schiavone considered it the greatest debut in pro wrestling history.
CM Punk has become one of the mainstays of AEW television and has feuded against the likes of Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston and others. Finally, CM Punk started a long-awaited feud with MJF.
While speaking to PTM’s Vinny Vegas, ECW legend Sabu talked about CM Punk’s return to the world of professional wrestling. Sabu, who has worked with Punk during his time in WWE’s version of ECW, said that Punk’s return brought the spotlight back to pro wrestling.
“Oh, I definitely think CM Punk coming back to pro wrestling is a good thing. Anything that can bring spotlight back on wrestling again is always a good thing. He is a good worker, and I like him. When I was in WWE, I rode with him. He picked me up from the airport first time. I genuinely believe Punk is good for business.”
CM Punk also recently stated that his slow start in AEW was his choice. It remains to be seen how AEW will keep on booking CM Punk and MJF’s feud as it further intensifies each week.
