Randy Orton is a true veteran in the pro wrestling world as he has competed inside the squared circle for almost two decades. He has earned the respect of fans and fellow WWE Superstars and is viewed as a proper locker room leader. It seems there is a reason why Jim Ross made Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar do the honors.

On the other hand, Brock Lesnar is also one of the top Superstars in WWE history. Both Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton made their main roster debut in 2002 and both went on to become legends in the business.

While speaking on his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross talked about Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton’s early days in WWE. Ross explained why he made both of them job in dark matches before their WWE debuts.

“I’m not gonna say they learned in one match. The deal is that the locker room was going to be more willing to accept a Randy Orton and a Brock Lesnar, who they conceived were gonna threaten their spots.

But for the locker room’s sake and their perception in the locker room, doing the honors, even though it was dark, was a smart thing to do. I thought that was good booking.”

Brock Lesnar is currently set to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Day 1 on January 1st, 2022 while Randy Orton is one half of the RAW Tag Team Champions. It remains to be seen how the two will continue to be booked in the coming months.
