Johnny Gargano was considered the face of NXT by many fans due to his excellent feuds with the likes of Tommaso Ciampa and Adam Cole. He has had various nicknames such as Johnny Wrestling, Johnny TakeOver and more and they are all for a good reason. It seems he might be debuting in AEW soon enough.
As seen on a previous episode of NXT 2.0, Gargano made it clear that his status in NXT is up in the air. However, many fans realized that Johnny Gargano was done for good. That turned out to be true as he is now officially a free agent.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Johnny Gargano could be making his debut in AEW when Dynamite takes place in Cleveland at the Wolstein Center, which would be on January 26th.
”As more time goes on, I have this feeling that Gargano will debut in Cleveland. That would be the right night to do it, right? It’s I think maybe late [January], maybe [January] 26th. I don’t know 100% that he’s going, but he’s talking about wanting to wrestle Kenny Omega. It’s things he’s said both publicly and privately. I know he’s heavily considering it.”
Gargano is from Cleveland and Tony Khan loves to book special things for the cities AEW visits. Johnny Wrestling also has no non-compete clause with WWE, because his contract expired.
Johnny Gargano also recently stated that he will work wherever fans call for him to work. We will have to wait and see what Johnny Gargano will ultimately decide for himself.
