WWE released several Superstars over the last year. Some of them have already landed in new pro wrestling homes, but others might still appear in AAA.
This week, the official match card for the upcoming AAA Rey De Reyes show was announced. The main event was announced to feature John Morrison (Johnny Mundo). This is his first advertise match following his release.
The former John Morrison will face Hijo del Vikingo for the AAA Mega Championship. He may not, however, be the only former WWE Superstar to make an appearance at Rey De Reyes.
Laredo Kid, Bandido, Cibernetico, and Psycho Clown are the only names that have been confirmed so far. On the most recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned that additional foreign talent could be introduced to the show. While he does not know any official names, he does disclose that other WWE Superstars who have been released have been in contact with him.
AAA was also in talks with performers from the most recent round of WWE cutbacks, which included the firing of John Morrison. They’re available to return to work in February, but he cautioned that none of them are guaranteed to show up.
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Top Dolla, Ashante “Thee” Adonis, Tegan Nox, Drake Maverick, Shane Thorne, and Jaxson Ryker were all released during that round of WWE releases. Of course, other names, such as Karrion Kross, have also been released this year. Furthermore, there’s no assurance that the vacancy will be filled by a former WWE Superstar.
