New World Order is one of the most iconic factions in the history of professional wrestling. One of NWO’s defining members, Buff Bagwell, recently had some interesting anecdotes to share.
Bagwell recently made an appearance on the “Who The Fook Are These Guys” podcast, where he shared details of his time with NWO. It turns out that Eric Bischoff was not a fan of Bagwell initially, however the wrestler turned it around.
Believe it or not, Eric was not a big fan of mine. He became a fan of mine and we became great friends, but at first, he was not a big fan of mine.
Bagwell explained the cause of Bischoff’s attitude towards him, calling himself “a pretty boy, a prima donna.” What eventually helped Bagwell turn this around was when he knocked a guy out at a club.
I knocked a guy out at a club one night. One punch, then the Nasty Boys counted him out.
After WWE bought out WCW in 2001, they attempted to bring back NWO. Unfortunately, Bagwell was not game. According to Buff, he even turned out their offer to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
They actually called me to do the, you know, to do the Hall of Fame thing. I was like, I’ll be honest, I said “I don’t want to be part of a group in the Hall of Fame, I don’t want to be like Brett Farve getting a ring because of the Green Bay Packers.“
It seems that Bagwell could not conceive of NWO without Nash, Hall, and Hogan. It certainly is admirable that Bagwell stuck to his guns.
