Sonya Deville had to take quite a break away from WWE television. Now she is back, but it took a lot of planning. Some of those plans were actually nixed along the way.

On January 1, 2021, Sonya Deville returned to WWE SmackDown in her first appearance since August 2020. She returned as an authority figure role, which she has maintained all year long.

So far, Deville’s in-ring return has only taken place in the form of a handicap match. According to Fightful Select, WWE had many plans for her return, including one at Money in the Bank. This got as far as making up graphics of her in the match.

During the revolving door that was the Smackdown roster around Money in the Bank in July, we can confirm that WWE actually had graphics made featuring Deville as a Money in the Bank competitor. Of course, that didn’t end up happening.

There were several other creative pitches on plans to bring Sonya Deville back to the ring. Her program with Naomi has been received well backstage so far, so it is working. Staff and producers highly praised their works.

How excited are you to see Sonly Deville finally back in the ring for some serious action? Sound off in the comments!
