The mystery surrounding where Kevin Owens would wind up after his WWE contract ran out is solved. Owens recently signed a multi-year deal with the company. All that was left to speculate on were the details.
Those details are now beginning to emerge. Kevin Owens received a generous offer from WWE. He obviously accepted it. KO will be making a very nice living once the new deal kicks in. The contract was signed a couple of weeks ago and kept under lock and key until the news eventually broke.
Dave Meltzer reported on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Owens’ offer was for more money than he could get from All Elite Wrestling. Tony Khan isn’t shy about spending money, so the numbers had to be astronomical. It turns out that KO will be making between $2 and $3 million.
“He signed a three-year deal with WWE. Actually, I believe it was a couple of weeks ago when this happened. I’m sure they’ll be more tomorrow on it, but it’s a very good money deal. I think the feeling is that it was a better deal than he could get in AEW. It’s in the 2 to 3 million, in that range.”
It’s not quite Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar money. The top stars in WWE are said to make around $5 million per year. It’s still nothing to laugh at.
Kevin Owens took NXT by storm after signing with WWE in 2014. He became NXT Champion and was eventually moved to the main roster. He became Universal Champion in 2016. Now that he’s got a new contract, KO might have a chance to bring home another world title on January 1 at Day 1.
