An alarming incident at an independent event in Irving, Texas on Saturday, left wrestling fans in utter shock. Wrestler Devon Nicholson, known in the ring as Hannibal, repeatedly stabbed a referee, seriously injuring him.
The referee in question, Lando Deltoro was hospitalized as a result of the incident. Fortunately, Deltoro is expected to make a full recovery. However, from the footage of the event, his injuries seem quite serious.
In his own defense, Hannibal claimed that he did not realize he was injuring the ref, stating that the ref gave no indication that he was being hurt. However, the footage clearly shows Deltoro bleeding profusely while being stabbed by Hannibal. WWE star, The Miz recently spoke to TMZ Sports about the incident, making it clear that he does not believe Hannibal’s claims.
Accidents happen, but I don’t get stabbed with like a knife or whatever the hell the guy had.
As for not giving any indication that he was being hurt, Deltoro stated that Hannibal was too big and powerful, and that Deltoro slipped out of consciousness before I could get the wrestler to stop. Despite that, it seems like there was plenty of indication for Hannibal to stop, when he did not. The Miz stated that “that didn’t look like a mistake.”
World Class Pro Wrestling, the organization that put on the event, has banned Hannibal from all future events. The Miz seems to be in agreement with this decision, stating that he believes Hannibal should be permanently banned from wrestling. You can watch the footage from the event as well as the interview with the Miz below.
