There has been much speculation about the future of Kevin Owens. Many fans took it as a given that he would join his friends in AEW when his WWE contract expired. There wasn’t much talk among fans about him staying with the company.

We now know that the opposite is true. Kevin Owens has signed a multi-year deal with WWE. Fightful Select has reported that Owens opted to stay with the company long-term rather than jumping ship.

Fightful learned several weeks ago that WWE was very interested in retaining Kevin Owens, and made him what sources in the company was “an excellent offer” to stay. WWE sources that we spoke to said they were over the moon about retaining Owens.

Insiders at AEW reported that they didn’t think the company would match the offer made by WWE. Talent within the company says that there may have been interest, but ultimately WWE offered Owens a better deal.

Owens restructured his WWE contract in 2019. It was set to expire in January of 2022. The new deal ensures that WWE won’t lose one of their biggest free agent names.

WWE is thrilled that they were able to re-sign the superstar. Kevin Owens is scheduled for a WWE Championship match with Big E, Bobby Lashley, and Seth Rollins at the upcoming Day 1 PPV. It was widely believed that he was only in the match to eat the fall. Now, anything could happen.
