Adam Page found his success with fans organically thanks to his relatable character work and excellent in-ring skills. He is also part of one of the most compelling storylines in AEW thanks to his storyline with Kenny Omega. It seems Page realized he wouldn’t have been a great champion in the beginning.

AEW Full Gear was a night of incredible moments and terrific matches, perhaps the best being the main event. It saw Adam Page challenge Kenny Omega for the AEW World Championship.

In a culmination of a multi-year-long storyline, Adam Page finally defeated Kenny Omega to win the AEW World Championship – a promise he had made years prior. A couple of years ago Page faced Chris Jericho to crown the first AEW World Champion but ended up losing the match.

While speaking on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette, Adam Page stated that he doesn’t believe him becoming the AEW World Champion was part of the grand scheme of things. Page admitted fans wouldn’t buy him as the world champion if he had won it during his first year in AEW.

“I would not even talk about, at least with my journey to the AEW World Championship as like some grand scheme that was thought of on day one or something like that because it never was, at least to me.

When AEW became a thing, I was just a guy that was losing all the Bullet Club multi-man matches. I wouldn’t necessarily say I was a nobody, but I certainly was not like the main event talent who was suddenly going to be main eventing the first ever title match in AEW. I knew people would not buy it, and it did not matter what I said, it did not matter what I did in the time between. It was too fast. It was too soon.”

Adam Page is currently engaged in a feud with Bryan Danielson and will be defending his AEW World Championship against Danielson at AEW Dynamite Winter Is Coming this week. It remains to be seen if he will be able to defend his title or not.
