Hit Row member Top Dolla made the news frequently thanks to his numerous diss tracks and also his beef with the Young Bucks. He certainly had a lot of potential after being called up to the main roster. It seems Mick Foley believed WWE might have had issues with Top Dolla.
During this year’s edition of the WWE Draft, Hit Row was called up to the WWE main roster, which certainly surprised many fans. The faction was currently part of Friday Night Smackdown and finally made their debut last month.
Unfortunately, B-Fab from Hit Row was let go a few weeks ago. However, it didn’t stop there as the company decided to release the remaining Hit Row members last month as well.
While speaking on The Wrestling Inc. Daily, Mick Foley stated that Top Dolla was money. Foley also revealed that he was worried WWE had problems with Top Dolla due to his rap lyrics.
“I’ll throw a name out, AJ Francis. To me, AJ was money. Big powerful guy, a wealth of charisma, he’s got a rap album out. I asked AJ if WWE took issue with some of the lyrics. AJ has got some strong opinions, he’s a proud black man he makes that case known with his lyrics. I think it’s a great album, he has an incredible knack for putting words together, great promo guy. He said, ‘I don’t even think they know I have an album.’ My career took off when Bruce Prichard overheard me talking to Shawn Michaels about this childhood dream I had to be Dude Love. Bruce went to Vince and said, ‘this guy has a much more interesting real-life story than the one we’re featuring, the fictional story.’
So, when I did the sit-down interview with Jim Ross, that’s when things really took off for me in WWE. Because, Vince became aware of everything I had to offer. I just think if you have someone in developmental and you’re paying him and you’re looking for stars of the future and you’re not aware of all the assets they bring to the table. You’re doing a disservice to the talent and the company.”
WWE is hell-bent on releasing as many Superstars as they can and from the looks of it, it has now become a regular occurrence. We will have to wait and see what is next in store for Top Dolla in the pro wrestling world.
h/t to Wrestling Inc for the quotes.
