CM Punk made his All Elite Wrestling debut a few months ago at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. It certainly changed the pro wrestling world as many people took notice of the company. Tony Schiavone considered it the greatest debut in pro wrestling history.
CM Punk has become one of the mainstays of AEW television and has feuded against the likes of Darby Allin, Eddie Kingston and others. Finally, CM Punk started a long-awaited feud with MJF.
Recently, CM Punk’s booking in AEW has been getting criticism for a lot of reasons, particularly the way he is portrayed in the company in the past couple of months. His match against Lee Moriarty was especially criticized.
While speaking on Keepin It 100 podcast, Disco Inferno criticized CM Punk’s current booking in AEW for having opponents who are not credible. He also said that Punk’s matches are flat.
”Punk’s matches are fine. They all make sense based on the story that thaty are telling us anything, but it really is flat. This is the biggest mistake the company has made. If you actually think that promoting CM Punk vs. Lee Moriarty is going to get people interested in watching that segment, I just disagree with you. And I think the numbers show nobody really cares about watching CM Punk fighting Lee Moriarty. When he does fight more credible opponents, you will see more people watching because fans are more involved in better things.”
CM Punk also said that fans need to wait and see the bigger picture of his booking in AEW. We will have to wait and see how AEW will book CM Punk and MJF’s feud as it is certainly one of the best things going on in the company right now as fans can’t get enough of it.
