WWE included a few NXT call-ups as part of this year’s edition of the Draft. This included Xia Li, as she was drafted to Friday Night SmackDown. Before that, she spent time in NXT and gained fanfare thanks to her interesting character work. It seems her vignettes made her sister cry.
For the past few weeks, WWE had been airing several vignettes of Xia Li, familiarizing fans with her before Li makes her debut. The vignettes featured comic book style storytelling that fans certainly liked.
While speaking with ScreenRant, Xia talked about her vignettes and stated that there is a real link to the story of her character. Li added that when she showed her sister the vignettes, her sister started crying.
“I remember I showed my sister the vignette. She was crying just like me and she knew where all the story came from. She had the same feeling as me. So she told me she’s very proud of me.
They call me many times. They worry about me. They know I’m here, lonely. They are very proud of me that I am able to stay this long. The whole family is just very proud and very happy for me. They are very proud of what I did right now and they are also very excited. My future, what’s going to happen, is I wish one day I can bring them over here to live with me. Then they can go to the show and watch me compete. I hope that they will come soon.”
Xia Li made her debut on last week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown, where she received a solid pop from fans as her entrance impressed many. We will have to wait and see how she will fare on the main roster.
