Sonya Deville made her return to WWE television back in January of this year in a non-wrestling role. Since then, she has been a mainstay of Monday Night RAW and Friday Night Smackdown alongside Adam Pearce as a WWE official. It seems Deville is in no rush to compete inside the squared circle.
Sonya Deville last competed at SummerSlam last year where she lost a loser leaves WWE match to Mandy Rose. She also had a lot to deal with in her personal life during that time as she faced a terrible stalker experience. That changed last month as she teamed up with Shayna Baszler and took on Naomi in a handicap match.
However, Deville did not compete in the handicap match. She also walked out on her match against Naomi, losing via countout.
While speaking to PopCulture.com, Sonya Deville made it clear that she is in no rush to make her in-ring return as she is perfectly comfortable in her current role in WWE.
“But a lot of people also don’t know, one of my first passions was acting and performing…. I’m just enjoying where I am. I’m not eager or in some sort of rush to be anywhere else. I feel really present in this moment and in this role.”
For the past couple of months, Sonya Deville and Naomi have been engaged in a feud on Friday Night Smackdown. While it initially had momentum, many feel it has been dragging on for too long. The storyline was even called out for not having an endgame. It remains to be seen whether the story will reach a satisfying conclusion or not.
