Matt Taven was reportedly at a recent AEW Dynamite taping. When a wrestler from another promotion shows up elsewhere, it always sparks speculation. Taven is one half of the current Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions with Mike Bennett as The OGK.
With Ring of Honor shutting down (at least for a while) after tonight’s Final Battle pay-per-view, rumors naturally began to fly. Taven said he was just visiting old friends, and that there’s nothing more to it. He told Wrestling Inc. Daily that he was there to see a group of wrestlers who made helped make him a player in Ring of Honor. He talked about how The Elite made him who he is today.
“They put me on the map. Being in the ring with those guys when they were so hot, did wonders for me. I remember when The Young Bucks left Ring of Honor, I went up and thanked them as genuinely as I could. Because they did everything. They changed the game in Ring of Honor, they put me on another level.
“Putting me in the ring with them obviously made me so much better. Elevated my status so much from being in the ring with all those guys. I think the world of all those guys. Obviously, they know what they’re doing and they have a good thing going.”
Matt Taven and Mike Bennett are set to defend their ROH tag titles against The Briscoes on tonight’s Ring of Honor Final Battle PPV. It’s a loaded card featuring a ton of championship bouts. There might even be some special surprise appearances. You can check out the full card below.
