Gable Steveson has a bright future in WWE and he is already on the Raw brand as he wraps up his time at the University of Minnesota. While Steveson prepares for his WWE journey to start, some fans are looking into his past and an old allegation came to light.
In 2019, Gable Steveson and Dylan Martinez were accused of sexual assault. According to a report from the Minnesota Daily, a “very thorough” and “complete” investigation resulted in no charges being filed due to a lack of evidence. This situation was brought back into the public eye as a tweet went viral on Wrestling Twitter.
Gable Steveson personally reached out to Ringside News after the 2019 allegation went viral. He was willing and open to discussing his situation. Gable also provided the following statement on the matter.
One of the challenges for me personally especially over the past several months/years has been reading the criticisms and attacks on my character by people who don’t know me personally and my values. No charges were ever brought by anyone and the entire episode has been difficult for everyone involved … Going forward people who don’t know me will hopefully see that kindness, respect and empathy are virtues I take very seriously in my life.
On December 20th, 2019, Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said of the situation, “In the interest of justice, there is inadequate evidence to fairly charge and prosecute this case.”
Steveson reached out to us which showed his willingness to speak about this situation and put it behind him. It is also important to remember that charges were not dropped because of any law. There were never any charges to begin with, because nothing was found to substantiate charges being filed.
