WWE Locks Down Trademarks For Two NXT 2.0 Names

WWE has filed two trademarks on names for wrestlers in NXT. According to the USPTO, the names “Ivy Nile” and “Odyssey Jones” were the latest filings. Both wrestlers have already made regular appearances for the brand.

Ivy Nile is currently a member of the Diamond Mine stable. She’s had three matches, losing none. Nile is a veteran of The Rock’s “Titan Games.” Odyssey Jones most recently wrestled on the November 16 episode of NXT. Both filings used the standard language to protect a wrestler’s name.

“Mark For: ODYSSEY JONES trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

Odyssey Jones first tried out for WWE in 2018. He was an offensive lineman for the Syracuse Orange in college. His career was ended by a leg injury during his senior season, and he gave wrestling a shot.

Ivy Nile has competed in mixed martial arts. She competed on the NBC sports game show “Titan Games” which is hosted by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. She signed with the company in January of 2020.
