Kairi Sane recently removed the WWE from her Instagram name. She also updated her profile to read “Former #WWE Superstar.” Fans immediately speculated that her time was up with the company.

We can now confirm this to be officially the case. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that the contract has expired. WWE hoped for Kairi to renew and return to the ring, but she preferred to stay in Japan.

After being removed from WWE TV in the Summer of 2020, Sane moved back to Japan. She was given an ambassador role for the company in her home country. She attempted to work the 10th Anniversary Stardom show, but WWE would not give her permission.

During her time in Japan, Kairi Sane has been very productive. She earned a new degree in June of 2021. She also announced that she was opening a 24-hour gym in late November. Now, she is free to wrestle in the country if she wants to.

The 33-year-old Sane has expressed an interest in returning to wrestling. While nothing is set in stone, Stardom would take her back in a heartbeat. So far, the two haven’t worked out an agreement for Kairi to appear.

Kairi Sane is a former NXT Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka. She won the 2017 Mae Young Classic. Sane is also a multiple-time champion with the Stardom promotion.
