Tony Khan has revealed new details about some special changes to AEW programming for Christmas week. The Wednesday, December 22 Dynamite will be presented with a special Holiday Bash theme. That week’s Rampage will air on Saturday instead of Friday. AEW fans will get a new episode on Christmas night.
Khan explained the changes to the Rasslin’ podcast. He said the company has big plans for fans during their time in Greensboro, North Carolina. The company hopes to make big shows in traditional wrestling markets a holiday tradition, the same as Thanksgiving eve in Chicago.
Rampage will be on Saturday, because TNT plays The Christmas Story for 24 hours.
The venue has a rich wrestling tradition. It hosted Starrcade in 1983, 84, 85, and 86. It was also home to the revival of Starrcade held by WWE in 2017. It is the largest indoor arena in the United States.
Khan said he hopes fans remember the last month of AEW on TNT as the best one of all. That’s why he chose to take the show to larger markets like Long Island, Dallas, Greensboro, and the company’s home of Jacksonville. The January 5 episode is the first on TBS and takes place in Newark, NJ.
Tonight’s show will lead into next week’s special Winter is Coming event. The card so far has four announced matchups. You can check it out below.
