Liv Morgan lost a heartbreaker in her shot at Becky Lynch‘s Raw Women’s Championship last night. After weeks of intense build, fans wondered why Big Time Becks ultimately got the win. Becky did grab the rope for leverage during the pinfall, so it wasn’t exactly squeaky clean.
The two will likely meet again. At some point, WWE will probably put the title on Liv. Dave Meltzer discussed what the company’s thinking is regarding Liv Morgan winning the championship on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio.
“One would think that is the case, and I actually think that is gonna happen. It just depends on, the thing is that I don’t know what the long term is, but they can have Morgan win, but in the long-term Lynch should be the champion. There’s no rule that she can’t lose it and win it back. You know it would make Morgan, it would help make Morgan, you know into something.
It would elevate her to have a short reign. Lynch wouldn’t be hurt by losing it and winning it back, Lynch is already a star. They’re sometimes hesitant about giving people titles, but it’s a pass-around title. There’s no reason not to.
It’s not like it’s Roman Reigns, their World Title is not a pass-around title. There’s no reason not to.”
Becky Lynch is one of the most popular superstars in all of WWE. A loss would absolutely not hurt her in the long run. Given Liv Morgan’s momentum right now, the company would likely benefit more from Liv winning the title than Becky keeping it. They have a major star waiting to be made. We’ll see when WWE pulls the trigger.
