Olympics Gold Medalist Kurt Angle is undoubtedly one of the greatest pro-wrestlers of all time. The supreme athlete was a huge part of WWE’s programming, and ended up having many legendary moments in both WWE & IMPACT Wrestling.
Kurt Angle recently appeared on The Paradox Of Sports. He talked about many key areas of his life, such as his health, his opinions on AEW vs WWE and his own refusal to join the company. Angle said that he feels pretty healthy at this point in his life, despite having dealt with neck problems.
I’m hanging in there. My knees, my back, and my neck are, you know, hurting pretty badly,” Angle admitted. “I have good days and bad days. But at 52 years of age, wrestling for over 40 years, I’d say I’m doing pretty good for what I’ve done.
Angle talked about his opinion on AEW, and how he actually considers it a competitor to WWE. He said that Chris Jericho working at AEW is a great thing, and so is the business having two healthy competitors which helps it expand.
I like the fact that they’re making noise. They’ve signed a bunch of great wrestlers; Chris Jericho is at the helm. He’s an incredible athlete, one of the best that has ever done it. They have some really talented guys; they even took some guys from WWE that got released. The good thing about it is there are two big companies going right now. That’s good for the wrestlers, that gives them options and gives them jobs to look for. It’s actually a good thing to have two companies instead of one.
Kurt then focused on his own potential involvement with AEW. He said that while he received an offer to work with them like so many of his peers did, he rejected it as he has an upcoming project with WWE. Angle also said that since he’s been with WWE for a long time, his loyalty lies with them.
I considered it, I was offered a couple of deals. I turned them down. But I’m a WWE guy and my loyalty is there for right now. You know, I’m not signed with them in any particular way. But I do have some projects coming up that is part of WWE and I don’t want to mess that up. So, I am going to stay loyal to WWE right now.
Angle mentioned that he isn’t signed with WWE. However, he has upcoming projects with them which he does not want to jinx. He didn’t elaborate further on those projects, or whether they’re going to put him back into the ring. Regardless, whatever those projects are, fans would be more than happy to see Kurt Angle back in action.
