Kairi Sane returned to Japan in 2020 to spend more time with her husband. She remained a WWE employee as a special ambassador to her home country. Since then, she’s gone into the fitness business, opening her own 24-hour gym.

Now, Kairi has enticed wrestling fans with the possibility of a return to the ring. She changed her Instagram handle from “kairi_wwe” to “official_kairi.” While her Twitter handle remains the same, on her Instagram Sane refers to herself as a “former WWE superstar.”

She also responded to a fan who said they hoped to see Kairi return to the wrestling wring. The response was a simple wink. It was just enough of a tease to keep fans wondering if and when Kairi Sane will return to the squared circle.

While serving as an ambassador, WWE forbid her from wrestling for other organizations. The changes to her Instagram account could be an indicator that she’s moving on. If she’s free from her WWE contract, she could turn up anywhere.

Kairi spent the bulk of her early career working for the Stardom promotion. She became a major star there, winning multiple championships. Sane joined WWE in 2016. She is a former WWE Women’s and WWE Tag Team Champion. Kairi also won the 2017 Mae Young Classic.

If she’s going to make a return in Japan, Stardom makes the most sense. It’s the promotion she cut her teeth in, and she is a big name there. Time will tell if she really is planning to wrestle again, but for now, the tease is real.
