Dr. Britt Baker wasn’t always one of the top stars in AEW. The AEW Women’s Champion reflects on the time when she was struggling to make a name for herself in professional wrestling. It was not that long ago when she was fighting to create her impression.
Baker’s career breakthrough came just three years ago. In the 2018 All In pay-per-view event, she finally made a dent. She was put to test in a four-corner survival match against Madison Rayne, Tessa Blanchard, and Chelsea Green. Baker told Bleacher Report:
“I was the girl who nobody knew who she was. Madison [Rayne], Tessa, and Chelsea had all been on multiple TV shows by then. They had traveled the world. I had graduated from dental school; that was my claim to fame at the time. So that was really a test for me. I was the underdog. It’s kind of funny, after that, that I’m one of the top girls at AEW now, so it’s kind of cool that it’s come full circle.”
All In was an independent promotion that eventually became All Elite Wrestling. Dr. Baker was the least popular among the four wrestlers in that match. Despite her name, she was the only one who signed with AEW.
Baker has got immense admiration for her fellow female wrestlers whom she met during her career. Baker shows pride in telling what her generation of women accomplished in professional wrestling. She further said,
“I always say my generation was the real-name girls Because it was Chelsea Green, Deonna Purrazzo, Rachael Ellering, Tessa Blanchard, and myself.”
As of late, Baker has been filling up her practice’s client nearly as assuredly as she’s filling in seats at AEW events around the country.
