WWE Hall Of Famer Kurt Angle is certainly one of the most talented in-ring pro wrestlers to have competed inside the squared circle. During the earlier years of his career, Kurt Angle teamed up with Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin and were together known as Team Angle. It seems the team might have split up due to politics.
Team Angle formed in 2002 and would break up in 2003 after losing the WWE Tag Team Championships. Many fans felt that the stable broke up too soon and even Kurt Angle shared the same sentiments.
While speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, former WWE Superstar Charlie Haas talked about Team Angle splitting up toon soon. Haas said Team Angle was getting great reactions on SmackDown and even got better reactions than Evolution. He implied that the team had to be split up due to backstage politics with Evolution.
“It should have been longer. What people do not get is, at the time, we were getting hot on Team Angle on Friday Night SmackDown. Who was getting hot on Monday Night RAW? That was Evolution. But when they have 4 guys and you have 3, when they do the mixed pay-per-views, we were getting better reactions than them. I really do not care what they say, you can ask Kurt Angle that, Shelton may not say because he is with WWE now, but we were getting a better reaction than they were. I think that had a lot to do with, ‘okay now it is time to split them’ because they kept Evolution going. That is just the way it is.”
Kurt Angle also previously stated that he regrets Team Angle breaking up too soon. Vince McMahon also made Angle memorize a 3-page script in 10 minutes. Kurt Angle is enjoying his life in retirement after WrestleMania 35. We certainly wonder if he will make his return to pro wrestling one way or the other.
