Fans of WWE’s Tough Enough reality series will be happy to learn that the company recently filed to continue their trademark on the wrestling competition show. The filing is dated November 30, 2021. WWE plans to use the trademark for merchandising purposes.
The filing has some fans wondering if WWE plans to revive the franchise. The most recent season came in 2016. The show was judged by Daniel Bryan, Hulk Hogan, and Paige. Billy Gunn, Lita, and Booker T served as judges.
That season’s winner, Josh Bredl, was released after two years and limited success with the company. Patrick Clark, who went on to become Velveteen Dream, also competed on that season. Sara Lee was the female winner. She was released in 2016. Chelsea Green, Sonya Deville, and Mandy Rose also competed that year.
The Miz and John Morrison were also discovered during stints on the reality series. Plenty of talent has come through the doors, making a return to the show an enticing prospect for WWE. The company is looking for new, young talent that they can train to work the WWE style and become WrestleMania headliners.
The filing is a standard trademark claim. They are very common in WWE. It is unknown if a relaunch of the series is planned.
“Mark For: TOUGH ENOUGH trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas; championship trophy belts.”
WWE has also recently been making mass trademark filings for use with new NXT 2.0 talents. The company continues to trend towards younger, more athletic performers. They recently de-emphasized scouting on the independent wrestling circuit.
