Taya Valkyrie has made her return to AAA. After clearing fresh of her non-complete clause from WWE, she reappears at tonight’s TripleMania Regia.
The former AAA Reina de Reinas Champion most recently wrestled for WWE NXT as Franky Monet. She returned to the promotion at TripleMania Regia event to challenge Deonna Purrazzo. She called out the current AAA Reina de Reinas Champion to regain her ground.
The last time Taya Valkyrie was seen in AAA was December of 2019. Back then, she took part in a Lumberjack match at AAA’s Guerra de Titanes event. The Victoria, British Columbia native was a staple in AAA up to that point.
She worked for the Lucha Libre promotion on and off since 2012. Taya Valkyrie is undeniably one of the most successful female wrestlers in the history of AAA. She won the Reina de Reinas Championship three times.
Taya’s first title reign is the longest in the history of AAA Reina de Reinas. Besides that, Taya lost the belt twice only due to vacating it. Taya Valkyrie is also popular for her runs in Lucha Underground, Impact Wrestling and WWE. She is also a former Impact Knockout’s Champion.
She joined WWE early in 2021, under the alias Franky Monet. Taya wrestled exclusively for WWE’s NXT brand. At one point, she challenged then NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez but lost in her effort.
Taya was released early in November and her noncompete clause ended today, making her a free agent. Her husband John Morrison, a former champion in AAA himself, was released from WWE a few weeks after her.
