Cody Rhodes is one of the top stars in the company and has been one of the mainstays of AEW television since day one. He is also the EVP of the company and ensures the product is as good as it can be. It seems there was a good reason for the flaming table spot.

As seen on this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes squared off against Andrade El Idolo in an Atlanta Street Fight. In the final moments of the match, Cody Rhodes superplexed Andrade onto a flaming table.

This allowed Cody Rhodes to pick up the win and essentially end his feud with Andrade El Idolo. Rhodes took the brunt of the bump as he went through the flaming table while Andrade missed it.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AEW decided to have a flaming table spot during the match as Cody Rhodes wanted to “create a new memory” for his hometown of Atlanta, which is where the show was held.

The last time AEW Dynamite was in Atlanta was in February last year, where Cody Rhodes squared off against Wardlow in a steel cage match, memorable for Rhodes’ moonsault off the top of the cage. Ultimately, it seems Rhodes’ goal was achieved.

Gruesome images of Cody Rhodes’ scorched back were already shown recently after the conclusion of AEW Dynamite. Mick shared his expert opinion of Cody Rhodes’ flaming table spot as well. It remains to be seen what is next in store for The American Nightmare.
