Update: Click here for Ringside News’ exclusive update on Elias changing up his look.
Original: There was no end game planned by WWE for the graveyard vignettes featuring Elias. Over the summer, the company aired several segments where Elias appeared to reject his musician gimmick. He even went so far as to burn his guitar.
Fans wondered if there was a rebrand coming. They even speculated that it might have something to do with NXT 2.0. A tweet today by Wrestle Votes reported that WWE never really had a plan at all.
“Interesting note on Elias, source states they had no end plan for graveyard vignettes. Just shot them to kill off the “music” gimmick.
His initial rebranding weeks back looked to similar to Randy Savage w/ colorful trunks & beard so Vince & co didn’t like it. Back to square 1.”
Elias in a Randy Savage gimmick is definitely an interesting thought. Vince McMahon and his coworkers didn’t like the idea, so now it’s back to square one. The former hobo musician is a free agent in WWE storyline.
Elias was one of three main roster WWE wrestlers not selected in the 2021 draft. The vignettes aired in August and declared that the character was dead. Since then, rumors have swirled about the meaning of the mysterious videos. Apparently, it was just to get rid of the guitar.
