WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon stated that WWE is in the process to announce plans on the NCAA NIL program. The announcements will be regarding the nature of the programming, and its brand image.
The program allowed for talented athletes such as Olympic Gold Medal winner Gable Steveson to sign a multi-year deal with the promotion. Steveson was the first NCAA NIL (name, image, likeness) deal for the promotion. WWE’s interest in talent outside of pro-wrestling is clear, and this is why MMA fighter Ronda Rousey has been part of WWE.
Rousey has been absent from the WWE programming as of late. Many fans are curious to know about her current status with the brand, and McMahon was asked just that while appearing on the Adam’s Apple podcast. She discussed Gable Steveson, Ronda Rousey, and more on the podcast.
Stephanie McMahon said that while there’s no official word on when she’ll return to WWE, but she can always come back to WWE. McMahon then joked that she’s always welcome, “as long as she stays away from me.”
There is no official update on her return, but she is always welcome to come back, as long as she stays away from me!
Ronda Rousey’s last appearance at the promotion was marked in 2019, at WrestleMania 35. While she’d left WWE in order to start a family with husband Travis Browne, Rousey gave birth to her daughter “La’akea Makalapuaokalanipō Browne” in September.
