Becky Lynch was not seen on WWE television since May of last year but that changed after she made her shocking return at WWE SummerSlam. Her return was a controversial one after she decimated Bianca Belair to win the Smackdown Women’s title in 26 seconds. It seems Bully Ray is not a fan of Becky Lynch’s current heel gimmick.
Lynch successfully retained the Smackdown Women’s Title at WWE Crown Jewel against Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair. Since then Lynch made her way to Monday Night RAW and is now the RAW Women’s Champion. She has remained a heel since WWE SummerSlam and while some fans like her characters, others simply do not.
While speaking Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall Of Famer Bully Ray talked about Becky Lynch’s current heel character during her latest promo battle against Liv Morgan on Monday Night RAW. Ray stated that it really doesn’t suit Becky Lynch at all.
”It is basicalyl an old school heel. It is heel 101. However, heel 101 does not really work with Becky. She is trying to portray a heel. And you brought up the facial expressions. Especially at the end of the match, last night, she is laying out on the floor, and she is making the typical bitter bear face, ‘Give me my belt, give me my championship,’ I was like, ‘That is pretty much as old school as that gets.’
If you have read ‘How To Be A Heel For Dummies,’ which I have read twice. What Becky is doing is on the first couple of pages, and we know that’s not really her. But, at the end of the day, they are getting the desired reaction from you, that they are looking for, which is you want to see Liv Morgan beat up and defeat Becky Lynch. So, they look at it as this – No matter how we are getting there with you, no matter how we are touching you emotionally, we are still doing it so we win.”
There are also those who believe Becky Lynch will turn babyface after fans have rejected her heel turn. Becky Lynch is currently engaged in a feud with Liv Morgan as she is the #1 contender for her RAW Women’s Championship. It remains to be seen how their feud will develop in the coming weeks.
