WWE superstar Austin Theory recently posted a picture from Stars Wars on his Twitter account. The image contained no caption, leaving fans to speculate the meaning behind the tweet.
The graphic in question shows Emperor Palpatine (before he became Darth Sidious) looking at his protégé Anakin Skywalker (who would go on to become Darth Vader).
Though Fury did not provide any context or caption, fans were quick to highlight the NXT alumnus’ last week’s on-screen interaction with WWE CEO Vince McMahon; suggesting the 24-year-old might be referring to his and Vince’s relationship in the tweet.
For those who missed, Fury was booked in an angle with McMahon where he revealed he was the one who stole Cleopatra’s $100 million golden egg (yes, you read that right) from the boss’s desk. His reason for stealing the artifact was simple, he wanted to take a selfie with it.
As a response, the WWE head honcho put Theory in a title match against current WWE Champion Big E who, of course, retained his title in the main event of Monday Night RAW on Nov. 22.
The Nov. 29 episode of RAW saw multiple on-screen interactions between Theory and McMahon. One of the segments ended with the boss slapping the 24-year-old before saying “you’ve got a lot to learn.”
It seems that WWE sees a lot of potential in Theory and plans on pushing him to the moon. After all, the company has yet to see a babyface match the stature and success of John Cena.
