AEW announcer Jim Ross provided an update on his skin cancer treatment via Twitter on Thursday. Ross tweeted that he will undergo 22 radiation treatments starting Monday. It will force him to take time off from AEW TV, but he is determined to get back to work by New Year’s Smash.

The professional commentator will miss the show until the end of the year. AEW President Tony Khan, CM Punk, WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam and several others reacted to Jim Ross’ cancer update. Khan spoke about the the possibility of JR returning to commentary for the AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash episode at the end of December.

Rafael Morffi was able to give a very positive update on Jim Ross after working with him recently.

JR signed a three-year contract with AEW in April 2019 to work as a commentator and senior advisor. JR expressed the possibility to return to announce date on December 29 in Jacksonville. Rafael Morffi retweeted saying how he spent the entire holiday week with JR in Jacksonville.

Morffi spent time with him at work in Chicago. His positive updated said that JR is strong, focused and ready to face this challenge. He is looking forward to have him back stronger than ever.

Hopefully, we will be having him back at AEW, Jacksonville on 12/29 and for AEW’s TBS Network debut on 1/5.
