Sami Zayn won the #1 contender Black Friday battle royal on SmackDown this week. That big win was immediately followed by an announcement that Brock Lesnar will be back next week, because his suspension is no longer a thing. This brought the focus away from Zayn in a big way.
Following his win on SmackDown, Sami Zayn was not happy. He was under the feeling that Brock Lesnar upstaged him, and rightfully so. This was certainly not anything he mapped out in his victory celebration.
During Talking Smack, Sami Zayn vented in a big way. One thing we know for sure is that Lesnar will stand in the way of Sami Zayn getting a Universal Title match against Roman Reigns.
“What a way to go off the air; Sami Zayn gets one of the biggest wins of his career. But, instead of going off on a career highlight for a generational talent, like Sami Zayn. Who has been oppressed, who has been marginalized and been cast aside for months, years, conveniently, we find air time to make the blockbuster announcement for Brock Lesnar’s return. As if Brock Lesnar hasn’t had enough television time. He needs to step on my moment?”
“Every week, I keep saying how there’s a conspiracy against me. I don’t even need to say anything anymore because it is clear as day to anybody these deliberate attacks on Sami. But it’s fine. I need to focus because I’m now next in line for Roman Reigns and the Universal Championship. This is something we don’t get in WWE very often.”
Sami Zayn did earn that Universal Title shot, even though many fans wanted Jeff Hardy to pull down the big win. Some thought Hardy did win as Zayn jumped up and won the match after staying out of the fray for a while. We’ll have to see what’s next in this situation, but Brock Lesnar might not take those words from Zayn too kindly.
