Jeff Hardy’s subpar booking Monday Night RAW led many to believe that the company has given up on pushing him. Fans also vented about the same on social media. It seems he recently talked about his old feud with CM Punk.
It even came to a point that his brother Matt Hardy talked about the subject of his poor booking in the company. Despite all that, Jeff Hardy made it clear that he is simply there to do his job and that is all that he cares about.
Back in 2009, Jeff Hardy and CM Punk engaged in one of the best feuds of their respective careers. It tackled Jeff Hardy’s real-life alcohol and substance abuse issues and turned CM Punk into a monster heel.
While speaking with Inside the Ropes, Jeff Hardy was asked about his feud with CM Punk. He stated that the feud was very real due to the subject matter and also reflected on him having to quit WWE as part of the storyline.
“Even with CM Punk [we had] the controversial kind of storyline between us, with him being the straight edge [and] me being the guy with drug issues, it just made it very real in the long run.
When I had to retire because he [CM Punk] beat me in that cage match, I said this one thing. This is not goodbye forever, it’s only goodbye for now. Nine years later, man, I finally stayed true to what I said.”
Jeff Hardy also recently revealed he still be sticking with WWE for at least another year. It remains to be seen if he will leave WWE for AEW and join his brother Matt Hardy or not after that.
